Entrepreneur Hans Georg Näder is not only at the helm of the Otto Bock group of companies, but also likes to be at the helm of a yacht. Thus, the CEO of the group is the owner of not just one, but several luxury yachts. The expensive hobby is not a problem for him, however - his fortune is estimated at around two billion euros. This puts him in the top 100 of the richest Germans in 2018. Internationally, however, it is only enough for the top 1000.

In his youth, he was especially fond of mofas and liked to go to parties on the weekends. But he also had another interest. Näder became enthusiastic about sailing at a young age. His wealthy parental home gave him the opportunity to spend time with his parents on week-long sailing trips in the Mediterranean. It was probably there that the foundation for his love of sailing was laid. This love was to continue for decades.

This was demonstrated, for example, in 2007 when he won the New Zealand Millennium Cup off the coast of Majorca with his yacht “Pink Gin”, which had been built only a year earlier. The length of this maxi-sailing yacht is 46 meters. Only the richest of the rich compete in this superlative summer sun race. Näder was able to prevail this year.

But it was not to remain with just one yacht. In 2013, Näder invested in the Baltic Yachts shipyard in Finland. This specializes in sailing yachts, with a focus on the luxury class. Näder held an 80 % stake at that time. Welt 17 December 2017

This shipyard is also associated with his second yacht, the “Pink Gin XI”. The data and dimensions of its successor are even more breathtaking: at over 54 meters, it is once again significantly longer than the “Pink Gin”. Added to this is the ultra-light carbon construction. Completed in 2017, the “Pink Gin XI” is one of the best and most expensive ships ever to sail the world’s oceans. And that was 7,000 nautical miles in 2017, after all. Näder spent almost the entire summer on his ship, which he used not only for living and working, but also as a place for numerous parties with family, friends and business partners. The interior features a mix of oak parquet flooring and gilded furnishings. One of the highlights is the retractable sundeck in the bedroom - even in yachts of this price range, something like this is not often found. Probably the most recognizable feature of the yacht and also responsible for the name is the huge sail. Hanging from the almost 70-meter high mast is the huge pink sail with an enormous size of 1,322 square meters and a weight of over 200 kilograms.

Now, however, the luxury yacht “Pink Gin XI” is to be sold - at a proud price of 45 million euros. Who the new owner will be, however, has not yet been determined. Business Insider 17 September 2020
