Hans Georg Näder is the third-generation CEO of the family-owned Otto Bock family group. For more than 30 years, he has headed the billion-dollar group, the world market leader in the field of prosthetics. The empire has been growing continuously for over 100 years.

The story is a long one: more than 100 years ago, in 1919, Otto Bock founded the company in Berlin with the vision of improving customers’ lives and creating a better quality of life. The demand was enormous: during the First World War, there were many who were now in need of medical support in the form of prostheses and other orthopedic products. The company experienced tremendous growth in the early years, improving technology and growing from strength to strength.

In 1990, Hans Georg took over the management from his father Max Näder. The then 28-year-old had just finished his studies and was now faced with the great task of following in his father’s footsteps and living up to the high expectations. But he succeeded in exceeding them. Under his leadership, the company continued to develop rapidly. With the turn of the millennium in sight, Näder introduced new fields of operation. These included, for example, the field of EDP technology. This was to be the foundation stone for the digitalization service provider Sycor. Otto Bock Holding GmbH was now positioned in the health care, plastics and IT sectors and was able to demonstrate and realize enormous growth potential.

Family cohesion has always been strong. The “we” feeling runs through every generation of the family. And so Hans Georg Näder dedicated a first-class memorial to his father Max Näder, who has since passed away.

Fittingly for the 100th birthday in 2015 of Max Näder, who died in 2009, the Max Näder House opened in Duderstadt, Hans Georg Näder’s birthplace. The parents’ house gets an extension, which is again the same size as the already huge villa. Old and stylish is combined with a design of the future. The opening of the Max Näder House was celebrated with a big garden party, which he probably would have liked to attend himself. Family friends were invited, as well as numerous business partners.

The aim was to commemorate Max Näder’s work and accomplishments, as well as the complete family history. The new building houses the central archive of the family empire. This is also a place for events, conferences and parties for friends, family and business partners. Visitors can trace the history of the Otto Bock group of companies in detail in the exhibition.

Construction of the luxury project will start in 2013. Construction will take a total of two years and will be completed in time for Max Näder’s 100th anniversary in 2015. The construction costs amount to around four million euros. Goettinger Tagesblatt 19 June 2015

In the same year, Näder also reaches into the company’s coffers and withdraws. The withdrawal of 95 million euros significantly exceeds the profit of just under 64 million euros generated that year. Näder already withdrew money from the company in 2012. At that time, the company booked just under eleven million euros. The value of the equity withdrawn was five times that amount.
